About this tool

What This Checker Does — and Doesn't — Tell You

This tool applies commonly published age bands and standard category-wise age relaxation (OBC +3, SC/ST +5, plus an additional allowance if you mark a PwD certificate) to give you a fast first read on eligibility across four exams. It's meant to help you plan which notifications are worth reading closely — it is not a substitute for the official notification, and exact age limits, qualification requirements and relaxations vary by post and by year.

Put plainly: a "likely eligible" here means this notification is worth your time, not you are eligible. Only the official notification for your specific post and recruitment year can tell you that, and it's the one that counts if the two ever disagree.

Want a Post-Specific Answer?

This general checker covers four exams at once, which makes it fast but necessarily broad. Each exam also has a dedicated checker with post-aware logic — including which posts carry a typing requirement, which is often the detail that actually decides things:

ExamDedicated checkerTyping requirement it flags
SSC CGLSSC CGL Eligibility CheckerDEST for Data Entry Operator posts
SSC CHSLSSC CHSL Eligibility Checker35/30 WPM for LDC and JSA
CPCTCPCT Eligibility CheckerBand-based, no single pass mark
RRB NTPCRRB NTPC Eligibility Checker30/25 WPM for typing-dependent posts

Why Age Alone Doesn't Settle It

Age is the easiest criterion to check and the least likely to be the thing that stops you. Three others matter just as much:

  • Qualification. Most CGL posts need a degree; CHSL is 12th-pass level. A few posts add subject-specific requirements the general rule doesn't mention.
  • Post-wise typing. Plenty of candidates are perfectly eligible and then discover their post needs a skill test they never practised for. Check that early — it takes weeks to build, not days.
  • The cut-off date. Age is reckoned as of a date set in the notification, not the day you apply. A birthday either side of it can flip the answer.

If it turns out your target post does need typing, start with what the exam actually involves, then move to the DEST mock or the CHSL test depending on which applies.

I built this tool while preparing for SSC CGL myself. It applies the same scoring rules as the mock tests on this site, and nothing you type into it leaves your browser. If a number here ever disagrees with your official notification, the notification wins — tell me and I'll fix it.
