Mangal Font Typing Test
Practice typing in Mangal — the standard Unicode Hindi font — using either the Inscript or Remington GAIL keyboard layout. Live WPM, accuracy and mistake tracking included.
⌨ Before you start: activate your Hindi keyboard
Windows: Settings → Time & Language → Language & region → add "Hindi" → choose "Devanagari-INSCRIPT" (the standard layout), then switch with Win + Space. Already have Remington GAIL software installed? Switch to that instead — this test scores whatever Devanagari text comes through, regardless of layout.

Two Layouts, One Font, Same Unicode Text
Mangal is a Unicode-compliant font — the text it displays is real Hindi Unicode, which renders correctly everywhere, unlike legacy fonts such as Kruti Dev. Inscript is the official government-standard keyboard layout, grouping keys phonetically, and ships built into Windows. Remington GAIL is an older, typewriter-derived layout still preferred by some typists trained on physical Hindi typewriters.
Both layouts produce the same underlying Devanagari Unicode text — they're just two different ways of typing it. This test doesn't care which one you use; it scores whatever correct Hindi text your keyboard produces. Most central government exams expect Inscript by default, so if you're unsure, that's the safer one to practice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Mangal is the standard Unicode Hindi (Devanagari) font used by most central government exams for Hindi typing tests, and by Windows as its default Hindi font.
Yes — this test simply accepts whatever Devanagari Unicode text your system's active Hindi keyboard produces, whether that's Inscript (the Windows default) or Remington GAIL (if you have it configured). The text you type is scored the same way either way.
Check your specific exam's notification. Most central exams expect Inscript, which is the default Hindi keyboard on Windows. Remington GAIL is more common among typists trained on physical Hindi typewriters and in specific state exams.
